description

We begin this adventure at the meeting point in Santiago, to head the G21 route along the Maipo River. We will drive through beautiful mountain villages such as San José de Maipo, San Alfonso, San Gabriel and El Volcán, to arrive finally at Baños Morales, the last mountain village, where the adventure really begins.

After about 15 minutes of instruction, to learn techniques of how to use the equipment and to familiarize with the snow rackets, we will begin a short steep stretch, as a way of getting our selves ready for the journey.

This is a medium difficulty physical and technical trekking. We will go into “El Morado” National Park, where we can see several of the highest peaks of the southern and Andes Mountains, such as San José volcano, Marmolejo, Punta Panimavida, Chacaya and others.

After about three hours of walking through this national park, we will find “Panimavida Aguas” where we will have the opportunity to see how spring water with a lot of minerals and healing powers also, emerge from the source.

Depending on the weather conditions and the amount of members of the tour, you can continue the trek for about an hour, searching for a greater proximity to the glacier.

When we reach our goal, we will recover energies with rations specially formulated for this kind of expeditions and at the same time, we will have the opportunity to toast for the success of the expedition with a delicious Pisco Sour.

Once our energies are restored, we will return by the same route. As we are going down this time, it won’t be so physically demanding and we will have the opportunity to stop and take some pictures.

The walk back to Baños Morales should take us about 2 hours.
